ACADEMY YOUNGSTERS IN SCOTLAND TRAINING SQUAD
Wildcats Academy youngsters Corbyn Kilday and James Healy have both been included in the Scotland under 18′s training squad announced today.
Mark Senter has named a 32-man group ahead of internationals against both Wales and England in November.
The group brings together the best of the resident and exiles players who have come through the trial games programme this summer and will train together for the first time at Nethercraigs Sports Complex in Glasgow tomorrow.
It includes players from eight different Scottish clubs from all over the country, with nine from the illustrious Glasgow club Easterhouse Panthers, plus ten Exiles from clubs as far afield as Somerset Vikings.
Back-rower Kilday collected his first representative cap when he played for Scotland in their clash with the England Community Lions last year whilst Healy’s performances at prop this year earned him the under 18′s Man of Steel Award.
The squad will be reduced to 18 for the international against Wales Under-18s at Wrexham on Saturday 3 November, with the game against England Community Lions on Sunday 18 November at Falkirk.
Wildcats Chief Executive, James Elston commented: “It’s great for both James and Corbyn to be part of the training squad and I’m sure they’ll both be targeting a chance to impress against England and Wales.
“It’s also fantastic for us as a club when any of our players at any age group are involved with a national side and it is just another indicator of how our youth development programme is allowing players to develop.
“A big part of that is Club 1873 and the people that are members of that can be rightly proud that they have played their part in investing in the structures that have allowed the likes of Corbyn and James to earn international recognition.”
If you’re not yet a member of Club 1873 then you can sign up for just £2 a week with the chance to win daily prizes, a weekly cash prize of £250 plus two mega draws a year with a prize of £2,000.
There’s also monthly spot prizes which will see you presented with your prize by a member of the first team squad, whilst money from the scheme goes into the youth development programme.
